Blog Assignment #1

If I built a school it would be like wal-mart. It would be filling with all kinds of things and divide into different sections of the school. Every student would be dividing into different sections according to how much they know about mathematics. Every student have there own way of learning. Some learn better from one on one session, video games, parents or other students. The main focus would be counting numbers. We all need to know mathematics. It's used in everything we do today in society. My school will be a fun place for kids to come. Just like wal-mart we will rollback numbers, divide, addition, subtraction, and have equal equations. Sections will be divide among electronic addition, multiplication of toys, dividing the candy, subtracting the vegetables (which most kids hate to eat), and we all will come together for an equal equations.

What do I want my students to know? The main goal of mathematics education in my school is the mathematisation of the child's thinking. There are many ways of thinking one learns in mathematics is ability to handle abstractions and approach to problem solving. It's important for students to learn math for architecture, business, economics, etc. depending on what they would want to be when they grow up.

What do I want my students to be able to do? I want my students to learn the skills, concept, analysis, and the way numbers work when problem solving. I want them to have fun while doing it such as challenging one another in the classroom. I want my students to be able to teach me as if i was the student.Students will be able to take what they have learn and use it to help someone else in need in the community.

What will be my methods of teaching? My methods of teaching would be to make sure that they understand the concept, analysis, ideas, and how to break down problems when solving. I would offer tutoring classes for those who need the extra help. I would have ipad, tablets, and all sorts of video educational games for the kids.

What role will students play in my classroom? How will they participate in the learning process? They would play in competition to see who can solve it first to win a prize. I would have certain days where the parents could come and learn with them. There nothing likes having your support system with you. The parents will be learning also so that they can help there child at home. I know some of you may be saying this lady is crazy math is a very hard subject but to me it's my passion. My vision for being a mathematics educator is that all students can learn mathematics and that all students need to learn mathematics. Don’t let mathematics intimated you because math is just numbers.

  1. I am also planning on teaching Math, so I can relate very closely to your blog. I love how you chose to focus on the your school will have on that one subject instead of speaking in general. The idea you had about the students playing in competitions is a very creative idea and a smart way to keep things fun and interesting. It was pretty clever how you compared Math to Walmart and "rolling back numbers." I would be interested to know what methods you would use to show them how to put the Math skills you teach them into use in their everyday lives or for their future career like stated in the "What do I want my students to know" section. Do you have some project ideas you are going to assign?

  2. "Every student would be dividing into different sections according to how much they know about mathematics." This sentence is confusing to me. Try to clarify it for me. Maybe students would be placed into groups "according to how much they know about mathematics."?

"There are many ways of thinking one learns in mathematics is ability to handle abstractions and approach to problem solving. " Many ways...is... ability to handle and approach? Needs work.

What about Mitra? From what you have said about him (nothing) I presume you did not watch the video. Correct? It is always necessary to do all parts of an assignment and to summarize what your read/watched.

"... as if i was the student." as if I were

"...what they have learn and use it ..." have learned, not have learn

"I know some of you may be saying this lady is crazy math is a very hard subject..." Period after crazy. Capitalize Math to start a new sentence.

"Don’t let mathematics intimated you because math is just numbers." intimidate, not intimidated. You have made a good case that math is not"just numbers."

    Proofread.
